Toddler Assistant Teacher

Little Laurels Montessori Preschool is looking for an assistant teacher who loves working with toddlers and is seeking a peaceful, collaborative, and successfully growing school in which to pursue their career goals in early childhood education.

While our preschool 3-6 year old classrooms are led by certified Montessori Lead teachers, most assistants arrive with little to no working knowledge of Montessori principles, which is OK! Many stay on, acquire training and some eventually become fully certified Montessori teachers with their own classrooms to lead.

We are looking for a teammate that is cheerful, focused and responsible. This is a full-time position, with shifts scheduled between 7:30am and 5:45pm. We offer a well-rounded calendar with school day closures closely following that of the SPS, which gives our staff ample time off to balance home and work life.

Our beautiful 1.7 acre campus is located in North Seattle; we have 3 playgrounds, abundant parking, plenty of trees and wild open spaces. You can learn more about our school at www.littlelaurels.org

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a genuine love of working with children

  • Have some experience working in a group-based setting with children

  • Understand the vital importance of building strong team relationships to better support our children and families

  • Have personal motivation to strive for excellence

  • Be flexible!

  • Although we staff our 11-child toddler classroom with 3 full-time staff (yes, you read that right) the only way to create a peaceful working environment is to have a willingness to flex when the situation demands it.

  • Have CPR/First Aid, BBP training, Portable background check via MERIT, or be willing to rapidly attain them

Benefits and Conditions:

Employees have the opportunity for flexible benefits packages that include a health care stipend, PSST and holiday pay, and paid teacher work days when school is closed. A waiting period of 90 days may apply for some benefits.

We look forward to hearing from you!
